Most traditional therapy only offers "coping skills" or "talk therapy". These approaches access the top part of the brain (the part that can think, ration and reason). While these methods can be effective for some, they can take years to be effective. These methods are called "top down approaches".
Most people need approaches that dive deeper into the brain. Our specialty is using techniques that utilize a "bottoms up approach". Meaning, we use methods that target the bottom of the brain and encourage deep, real, authentic healing in less time than most traditional therapeutic methods.
These methods can be combined with traditional talk therapy and coping skills to give the client the ultimate healing experience. Our holistic "bottoms up", client -centered approach and mindset offer clients a different way to heal in a safe environment.
New research has shown that trauma stems from two factors; shame and fear. When shame and/or fear meet helplessness or hopelessness they can become encapsulated in the brain as trauma. Over time even small traumas can add up BIG mental health issues.
Most people have trauma and don't even realize it. Trauma will often mimic or play upon the symptoms of:
-Anxiety
- Depression
-OCD
-Addiction
-Grief
-The list goes on and on!
Every practitioner associated with Wanderlust Wellness has advanced training in trauma informed care. Being sensitive to trauma and finding effective interventions is one of the cornerstone principals of our practice.
We use the most cutting edge, up-to-date, techniques in treating trauma including Brainspotting, heart math, art therapy, and somatic therapies along with traditional talk therapies like Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Can't make it in to the office for your session? Telehealth is a great option for clients who need more flexibility in how they receive care. A quick phone call or email is all you need to do to utilize this method of care.
